A promise from God does not have to be a specific pledge. Every
manifestation of His purposes, whither they are prophecies or
statements concerning Himself, are promises. There are those who
have diligently sought to count the promises of the scriptures and
they range from 3000 to 8000. The scriptures use several words
relating to God’s promises:

The promises of God are vast and spread throughout the scriptures
with the first being in Genesis and the last in Revelation. After
sin had come into the world God promised: “And I will put enmity
between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it
shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Gen. 3:15).
The last promise is spoken by the Lord when He said: “He which
testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even
so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Rev. 22:20)
Because of the knowledge, power, and fidelity of God, for He
cannot lie (Titus 1:2), His every promise is: “Yea, and
Amen” (2 Cor. 1:20). He is the God who says: “I change not”
(Mal. 3:6), therefore: |

a) |
No promise will ever be broken. “My covenant will I not
break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.”
(Psa. 89:34) |
|
b) |
No promise will ever fail. “Ye know in all your hearts and
in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the
good things which the Lord your God spake” (Josh. 23:14).
God’s promises will never fail because: “With God all things
are possible” (Matt. 19:26). |
His promises cover such a wide range of experiences:
