The Promises of God

Promises From God Relative To Salvation

. . . for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee . . . Hebrews 13:5

I suppose at some time or other the question comes to the minds of most saints: “Am I really saved?”  It may be because of a sin committed long ago, or recently, or laying awake in the darkness of the night, or a meeting, or one of many other things.  It is not restricted to saints who are young spiritually.  Many an individual who has been saved many years, been used of God in the salvation of others, or ministered to the saints, has the same thoughts.  It may come completely out of the blue, and no matter how hard one tries to go around their foundation again, there is an uneasiness.   I am aware of people who have sought help from the elders of their church and it was brushed off with: “Of course you are”.  What is needed is for someone to come along and let them tell that which is in their heart, certainly not belittling the situation, but seeking to help them go back and look at when they were saved.  Ask the individual: “If God was to take you right now and ask for one reason why He should let you into Heaven, what would you say?”  Then reassure them with the words of Holy Scripture.

There are many reassuring verses in the scriptures.  The following are a few:

For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matt. 26:28
Jesus, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation (a turning away of God’s wrath) through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. Rom. 3:25

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of Christ. Eph. 2:13
